The index was developed in 5457 patients admitted to the hospital via the emergency department from Florence, Italy in 2005 (71% age 80 year or older, 55% female, 34% 1-y mortality).
Discrimination: For the development study this risk calculator sorts patients who died from patients who lived correctly 64% of the time (c-statistic)
